Fishing – Tiger Creek Lodge provides anglers with access to some of the best fishing in the country. Bring your own boat or book an unforgettable excursion with any one of the six available licensed guides. In addition to what is arguably some of the finest bass fishing in the United States, Lake Sam Rayburn also has some of the most productive crappie fishing anywhere. The numbers of crappie, white perch or sac-a-lait, are mind-boggling. Our staff of guides will give you access to nearly 200 areas of underwater brush piles that hold fish nearly year-round. Invite your friends because most boats will accommodate groups of up to 12 anglers. Their boats can pick up groups at any one of several launches or right at the water’s edge of Tiger Creek Lodge.

Golf – What could possibly be better than a round of 18 holes at a beautiful golf course only minutes away at Rayburn Country. The course, only minutes away from Tiger Creek Lodge, is tucked into the stately east Texas pines and rolling hills. The Rayburn course features 150-feet of elevation with new greens, trees, bunkers and well-manicured fairways for golfers of all levels. The front nine is what the old timers call the “Blue Course.” With lots of elevation changes and forced carries, the newly renovated front nine was extended and widened to enhance the corridors and allow the player to execute different shots off the tee. The back nine is the old “Gold Course” that has less elevation but feels more classic in style. Outstanding views, rolling hills, pine tree-lined fairways give players an Augusta-like feel.

Hunting – Professionally guided hunting trips can be scheduled, in season, on more than 7,000 acres of thick, lush woodlands.

Birding and hiking – Lake Sam Rayburn and the surrounding woodlands are truly a birder’s paradise. Countless species of birds and wildlife can be found in the sprawling woods of Tiger Creek Lodge. Snowy egrets are common and there are frequent sightings of nesting bald eagles. Other notable species include brown-headed nuthatch, red-cockaded woodpecker, pine warbler, yellow-throated warbler and the red-cockaded woodpecker, pileated woodpecker, barred own Acadian flycatcher, belted kingfisher, Louisiana water thrush, Swainson’s warbler, prairie warbler, osprey, great blue heron, green herons, cattle egret, kingfisher and Bachman’s sparrow.

Several recreational and birding sites are located around the lake, including Twin Dikes Park, Overlook Park, Ebenezer Park, Marion’s Ferry, Hanks Creek, Monterey Park, Sandy Creek Park, Cassell-Boykin Park 

In addition to the normal compliment of woodland birds, the lake attracts impressive flocks of Six Mile Creek Directions: From Hemphill, go south on TX 87 5.6 miles to Six Mile Bridge over arm of Toledo Bend Lake. Description: Excellent area for wintering species.

The woodlands offer great areas for a variety of upland wildflowers. Longleaf pines here are up to 150 years old.
